Raúl Pérez Wine Dinner Recap // Brooklyn, October 2025
Last week we had the special honor of hosting Raúl Pérez in Brooklyn. We gathered in Popina's side dining room to celebrate one of Spain’s most visionary winemakers with an intimate dinner and an extraordinary lineup of wines. Over the course of the night, guests experienced 12 different wines, showcasing the incredible breadth and depth of Pérez’s work—from expressive Atlantic reds, crystalline whites, and even a surprise sweet wine he carried over in his suitcase. The highlight of the evening was the opportunity to pour and taste his ultra-rare Muria wines, a treat that even the most seasoned collectors rarely encounter. We tasted 2020 and 2021 side-by-side: a really special treat. La Muria is a new single-vineyard wine from the highest-altitude vineyard in Bierzo, at 1,045 meters above sea level, in the village of Viariz.
The energy in the room matched the wines: vibrant, layered, and full of character. Each pour told a story—of place, of vintage, and of Raúl’s singular approach to winemaking. It was a night of discovery, conversation, and shared passion for exceptional wine. Shout out to chef Alberto who cooked a beautiful menu to pair with Raul's wines and bring a little Spain to Brooklyn. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening unforgettable.
